I have always prefered Jedi Outcast over Academy, it was better paced and had better levels. On the other hand, the level design in JO is absolutely maddening at times. Seriously, some of the dual and saber staff moves are essentially "I win" buttons. There's also an elegant simplicity to single saber combat only, with no overly crazy or overpowered stunts. I've never been a fan of the whole "resurrecting Marka Ragnos" story line either. Jaden Korr can't hold a candle to him on account of his/her role as a self-insert for the player, and Rosh Penin is absolutely unbearable.

Kyle Katarn is one of my all time favorite EU/Legends characters. On the one hand I prefer the story and cast in JO.
